HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIGGER

The original Trigger, The Old Man, The Old Horse, would be celebrating his 83rd birthday today, if horses lived that long! He was truly a very special horse. He was all spirit and fire when Dad rode him and he was the most gentle of giants when I rode him (as a nine-year-old) across the Van Nuys Wash to the Mom and Pop grocery store on Woodman Avenue.

My friend and author of the upcoming ultimate Trigger book, Leo Pando, just shared this photo of a very young Trigger with me and said that I can share it with you.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

From both of us, Cheryl and Larry Barnett

Oh bless, Happy Birthday Trigger! He and Roy were like brothers who found each other. People would be happier and society would be more humane if we still had horses in our everyday lives, I think.

What a wonderful picture, that’s some fine saddlery and he looks so coltish. Thank you for sharing it and telling us about the new book. I want that new book!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIGGER!. Is there going to be an updated trigger book?
    Alan

    1. Yes, Leo Pando is working on updating his book, “An Illustrated History of Trigger.” He has lots of new pictures (I have never seen a lot of them) and updated information.

Truly the grand old man. I “pretend” rode Trigger as a child, just loved him. What a beautiful horse and nice story Cheryl.

  2. Happy Birthday Wonderful Trigger. You were a prize to Roy I am sure. I know you loved him and would have given your life for any of the Rogers family and visa versa.
Yes Cheryl I’m jealous too that you got to ride that handsome Old Man. I’ve only seen him in pictures and am looking forward to the book of pictures.
How many pictures was Trigger in before he met your dad?

    1. I’m not sure just how many pictures Trigger made before Dad rode him in “Under Western Stars.” I only knew of one, “Adventures of Robin Hood,”butLeo Pando has done incredible research and has found other pictures that Trigger made without Dad. Some of them were made while Dad was buying Trigger from Hudkins Stables (by contract, that was not supposed to happen. I’m really looking forward to getting a copy of Leo’s book and seeing the pictures he has found.
