Little Trigger Does Tricks

Above are some photos that I was unable to include in my latest book, “Cowboy Princess Rides Again.”  They are photos from an old movie magazine and the quality just isn’t good enough from them to be reproduced in print today. But, I am happy to include them here.

The first photo is of Little Trigger sitting.  The second if the famous “End of Trail” pose, and the last is of Little Trigger saying his prayers.

In the top photos, Dad is using one of his silver saddles but in the last photo, it is one of Dad’s famous, or infamous, plastic saddles.

I am not sure there the top two photos were taken, but I think the bottom photo was taken at Glenn Randall’s stables (Glenn was Dad’s horse trainer) in the San Fernando Valley.

Happy trails, Cheryl

Just wondering if you rode horses much

    1. Yes, I rode a lot when I was a kid. I loved horses and I even went through a period when I wanted to be a barrel racer. I had a really good horse, Pal, that Dad had bought for Mom to use in the movies but Pal looked too much like Trigger and so I got to call him my horse.

I was really lucky in my 60s and got to ride in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade for 8 years. I rode a marvelous Peruvian Paso that I borrowed from a good friend, Stuart Hamblen’s daughter Lisa.

    1. Hi Alan, you already have my two autobiographies and the DVD set. The only other book I have is a cookbook that I wrote with a couple of good friends (a couple of great Nashville, TN writers). The cookbook has over 200 pictures who gave us their recipes, as well as stories and recipes from a couple of hundred cowboys (actors, Country-Western singers, rodeo champions, chuckwagon cookout champs and a few dude ranch cooks)! It is a really good book.
