Trail of Robin Hood – TCM – Dec. 15

Happy Holidays everybody!!

Please don’t pay any attention to the title, Trail of Robin Hood is one of the few Westerns with a holiday theme and it is one of Dad’s!  The outdoor shots were made in Big Bear, CA where the mountains and pine trees are magnificent.

I understand from friends that Trail of Robin Hood has been redone by Paramount and that it is even more beautiful than when it was originally released by Republic!

Republic made several Westerns where they had their Western stars make cameo appearances in each other’s films. Jack Holt, kneeling on the far right, is raising Christmas trees for orphans and the “bad guys” are trying to steal the trees!!! How low and bad can one get?

If you look closely in the picnic scene, you will catch sight of me (I was 10). I had one line and asked Mr. Holt for his autograph (he was a retired movie star in the film).

Dad and I during a break in filming.

I think that if Paramount would just retitle the film it would become a Christmas tradition and we would see it every year.  Especially, since they have redone it so beautifully!

Be sure to check your local TV schedule to see what time TCM (Turner Classic Movies) will show Trail of Robin Hood in your area on December 15.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I will be joining the wonderful Bar G Wranglers the night after Thanksgiving at the Electric Theater.

I met Seth and Cassie Weil years ago in Scottsdale, AZ.  I met them at the same event where they met each other! We have been friends ever since and I was delighted when they asked me to join with them in celebrating the Holiday Season.

Following the Bar G’s performance, I will tell you about what the holidays were like at the Rogers-Evans home.

Please join us for a fun evening the Electric Theater on Tabernacle in the heart of St. George, Utah.
